Wow! Just got back from a big trip down south and was amazed how beautiful the coastline is. It’s rugged, windblown and dangerous. In fact, they are looking for someone right now that slipped off the rocks and got swept out to sea.

There is still many places that have not been destroyed by humans and I have fallen in love with a small town that are doing big things to tread carefully on the earth. They even have what they call a sustainability centre for education. I would love to learn from them, then build my little dream eco-home amongst the trees there and enjoy a life of fresh air and untouched nature. The shopkeepers have time for a chat, some business’s opening hours are from just 10 till 4, and the pace is nice. I am in love!

A Four Week Long Photo Shoot!

Hey all! I am getting ready to go away, travelling along the south coast of Western Australia for four whole weeks! It’s the biggest photo shoot of my life! I haven’t achieved much so far with the whole blogging thing, but I will endeavour to give it my best shot when I return. Selling your work at Markets

Does anyone have any ideas about selling ones artwork? I went to a major market last night expecting to make a killing, but left very disappointed, as did many others. The market scene really has taken a beating lately, and many people are reporting a 50% loss in their expected earnings. Ebay has been suggested, but photography doesn’t seem to do well on there. It mainly has rubbishy snaps and 1 cent digital wallpapers. Thats not art. I want to be taken seriously, and my work is admired, but selling it seems to be a completely different matter.

I am giving serious consideration to joining a group called “conservation volunteers” here in Australia. I would help do things like re-establish plants and wildlife habitats. My biggest passion is saving our delicate beach dunes. There is alot of exposed coastline here in Western Australia that isn’t protected by reefs or bays, and they see the ravages of storms and to a lesser extent, the tourists. They need to be educated a little more about protecting these delicate eco-systems. It would be great to be part of such a group. As a photographer, I will have a go at documenting my trips and the things we do to help our little corner of this planet. Does anyone have experience with a similar conservation group?

Yes, hello world! This is my first ever blog! Yes I am a blog virgin. I hope to chat with others about photography, not so much about digital, or brands, or even equipment, but about photography as an artform. Your thoughts, feelings, and passions when you pick up your camera. Do you grab your gear and head out hoping to find a subject of interest, or do you think, imagine, plan, dream……….? Perhaps you have a story about how you achieved that favourite photo, the trek over sandunes, the struggle to keep dirt out of the lens, but in the end, there it is……the most magnificent shot ever. Thats the thing, most people don’t see or even understand the sacrifices made to get that one shot. Share them here. Also, what do you think of this photo? It is about a 2 minute exposure.
